StarSound Family (“A-music App”, “We”, “Us”, or “Our”) operates https://a-musicapp.com (the “Website”), and the A-Music App mobile Application collectively referred to as our “Platform” or “Services”. Our Platform is designed to use your account data, subscription data, usage data and technical data for the purpose of enabling you enjoy the streaming of music, videos and other audio-visual content such as podcasts, virtual concerts, radio stations and audiobooks etc.

Our intention is to inform you of our policy regarding the collection, use and disclosure of your personal data when you visit, access, browse through and make use of our Services. Please read carefully, as it is important for you to understand how we intend to process, retain, and protect the private information you provide us. To protect your privacy, we follow different principles in accordance with world-wide practices for user privacy and data protection. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of your information at all times. To this end, we have appointed a data protection officer (“DPO”). The Data we Collect when you sign up for our Services

When you sign up to use our Services, we collect information about you. This information may include: 

Your login details (user ID, email address and password);

Your profile information (username, age, gender, language and profile picture);

Personally identifiable information (your name, email address, date of birth, home address, profile picture and telephone number);

The Data we collect when you subscribe to our subscription plans;

The paid plan which you have subscribed to and the details of the transaction (date of the transaction, amount paid, currency and payment method).

Your listening history (artists, albums, songs, playlists, videos, podcasts, and audiobooks you listen to, videos and virtual concerts you watch and playlists you create).

Your listening habits (name, manufacturer, brand and type of device used for streaming or moments when you stream).

Your favorite content (artists, albums, songs, playlists, videos, podcasts and audiobooks you like).

Your interactions on our Platform (your comments, users following you and users you follow).

Information on your device (type of device you are using, unique device identifier, hardware model, version of the operating system, hardware and software settings, browser type, cookies or similar technology, system language).

Information on your navigation service (IP address, date and time of connection, pages that you accessed, the date and time you accessed these pages, your search queries).

Information on your internet connection (internet service provider, type of connection: 3G, 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, xDSL, cable, optical fiber, etc.)

Data we may collect to enable you participate in initiatives we carry out (for instance, any events, competitions or satisfaction surveys).

Our Platform uses cookies (small files containing a string of characters), which allows us uniquely to identify your browser and distinguish you from other users of the Platform. It enables us to track your preferences and provide you with a personalized and smooth experience when you use the Platform or our Services. We use “analytical” cookies to enable us to recognize and count the number of visitors to the Platform and see how they navigate the Platform. This helps us improve the way the Platform works, by ensuring that users are able to find what they are looking for easily. We do not share the information the cookies collect with any third parties.

However, you must understand that we want to provide you with a platform that is just for you, and cookies help us achieve this purpose. User Profiles

Every registered user has a unique personal profile. Each profile is assigned a unique personal identification number, which helps us ensure that only you can access your profile.

When you register, we create your profile, assign a personal identification number (your User ID) then send this personal identification number through an activation link to your email address to activate your profile. This code is uniquely yours and is used to access the Platform at all times.

Data Security

We store and process your personal information in Nigeria. Any transfer of your personal information to a foreign country shall be subject to the decision of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) or the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation (HAGF) to the effect that such country has an adequate level of data protection. In the absence of any such decision by the NITDA or HAGF, we shall obtain your explicit consent for the proposed transfer having informed you of the possible risks of such information transfer arising from inadequate data protection.

Please be assured that we have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from loss, alteration, disclosure, or any unauthorized use. In addition, access to your personal data shall be on a need to know basis for our affiliates, employees, agents, partners and contractors; persons who have a duty to maintain confidentiality at all times and will only process your personal data according to our instructions. Also note that we have developed security measures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

Retention of Personal Information 

We will keep your personal information for as long as it is required and in accordance with the purpose it is being processed for, tax, accounting, regulatory, or legal purposes. We will keep the personal data for a period which enables us to handle or respond to any complaints, queries or concerns relating to our relationship with you. Related to this, we may retain your personal data for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if We reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you.

Your Legal Rights

You have the right to:

  • request access to your personal data (commonly known as a “Data Subject Access Request”). Please note that a Data Subject’s Access Request may attract an administrative fee;
  • request correction of the personal data that we hold about you;
  • request erasure of your personal data. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal data where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove your personal data where you have successfully exercised your right to object to processing (see below); 
  • object to processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes. In some cases, we may demonstrate that we have compelling legitimate grounds to process your information which override your rights and freedom;
  • request the transfer of your personal data to you or to a third party in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. Note that this right only applies to automated information which you initially provided consent for us to use or where we used the information to perform a contract with you. Please note that this request may also attract an administrative fee;
  • withdraw consent at any time where we are relying on consent to process your personal data. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide the Services to you. We will advise you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent.

Our Platform uses Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS), AWS security to ensure the security of your personal data. You should see the padlock symbol in your URL address bar once you are successfully logged into the Platform. The URL address will also start with https:// depicting a secure webpage.

Please note that you play a significant role in the security of your information. No one can see or edit your personal information without having your log-in credentials, so do not share these with others.
